True North Energy (TNE) was established in 2002 to provide consulting and advisory services to the independent power producer community in the renewable energy sector. TNE and its principals have been providing technical and financial due diligence/independent engineering reviews for renewable energy projects for the last twenty-five years.
TNE provides services for hydro, solar, wind, biogas, and energy-recovery projects. These services include acting as lender’s technical advisor, government representative, and services relating to due diligence, feasibility and project financing including performing lender’s audits, project valuations, strategic planning, and regulatory oversight.
TNE has acted as the Independent Engineer on more than 60 renewable energy projects (including hydroelectric, solar, wind and biomas projects) in Canada with an aggregate value of over $2 billion, and has provided services for 30 financial institutions, as well as nearly 30 Independent Power Producers (IPPs), more than 20 First Nations, municipalities, provincial utilities and crown corporations.
TNE works closely with JEM Energy Ltd., allowing a coast-to-coast presence, with offices in Ontario and British Columbia. JEM Energy Ltd. (JEM) was incorporated in 2006 and continues to provide TNE services to the west coast of Canada.

Our Team

Jennifer McCash, P.Eng.:
Jennifer is a professional engineer with over 20 years of experience working in the green energy sector across Canada. With a background in hydrology and energy production modeling, Jennifer has been responsible for hydrology reviews and independent energy production models on 30+ projects in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec.
Jennifer has also acted as the Independent Engineer for the Ministry of Forestry in British Columbia on 25+ projects. Further, she has been the Independent Engineer for Senior Lenders during the construction of 15+ projects and provided due diligence reviews of 10+ projects for resale purposes.
Jennifer’s experience lends itself to a strong understanding of green energy modeling and green project regulatory and permitting requirements. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and holds a professional engineering license in both Ontario and British Columbia.
Jennifer is also a member of Clean Energy BC for 6 years and attends the annual CEBC and the First Nation Energy Summit conferences.

Andrew Steeves, B. Comm:
Andrew Steeves, B. Comm: Andrew has over ten years of experience in the renewable energy sector both as an analyst and project coordinator, providing consulting and advisory due diligence services on renewable energy projects, including run-of-river hydroelectric, ground mount and rooftop solar PV, and wind power projects.
Andrew is an “in the weeds” analyst with a solid hydropower background who has participated in and coordinated many successful due diligence efforts for developers, financial institutions and government agencies.
Andrew’s background and experience, coupled with strong communication skills assist him in bridging the gap between technical and financial aspects of renewable energy projects. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Management from McGill University.
